NEA Research Part 7 - Producers/Directors Research

Introduction

In this post I will researching the practitioners linked to my chosen brief such as the photographers, producers and more. This will give me inspiration by their style and main conventions. So, when I create my work it will reflect a similar style to what is expected in the entertainment magazine genre.

Conclusion

Overall, researching the different photographers and producers that are involved in the making of entertainment magazines gave me a clearer insight to what is expected in front covers and how to keep the shots interesting. This is because each person that I researched had a initial purpose on what they wanted to present in their work and they do that by being unique and honest with their art. For example, I like how Peter's intention for his photography is to empower women by representing them as natural (subtle makeup) and the medium to close up shots. This is something I want to explore with how I represent my female models as their true selves. This means I will use more candid shots than posed ones. In addition, I also like Eric's use of colour in his photoshoots because every shoot represents the models feelings. For example, the blue tone colour in one shoot suggests that the model feels sad which is suggested by the bent down shot. However, as blue also suggests calmness, audiences can respond with what they think and the reading they will take which relates to Shirky's and Steve Neales reception theory. By doing this, I will explore the use of colour in my images as I want the audience to have freedorm in thinking what they want from the shot.

Comments

  1. S – Good analysis of chosen texts.
I – You need to include examples of how you specifically intend to use the information you summarised in your production… what specifically do you intend to use in production that links to this research?
T – Please write the above in RED FONT as part of your conclusion.
